Message on commemoration of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Excellency Harold Agyeman4

Ghana today joins all Member States to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
This year’s event is under the theme “Voices for Action against Racism”.

In commemoration of the Day, the Permanent Representative of Ghana in a message underscored “that racial discrimination remains one of the challenges of our time and a threat to the realisation of universal human rights as well as goal 16 of the SDGs on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, hence the need for a more proactive global response in addressing the canker”.

He noted that “now more than ever, the international community needs to unite with one voice in eliminating racial discrimination” and, in that regard, re-iterated Ghana’s commitment to supporting global efforts in advancing equal opportunity for all irrespective of ones’ race, to enhance the full potential and contribution of all of humanity.
